RIGHT TO PETITION AT CHURCH
Pastors and church members do not give
up their civil rights when they walk
into the sanctuary on Sunday
morning. Pacific Justice Institute Chief
Counsel, Kevin T. Snider, has sent a
letter. Here are some
pertinent excerpts from the letter:
“The
purpose of this letter is to inform you
of your church’s right concerning
signature gathering for petitions
supporting or opposing voter-sponsored
ballot initiatives or pending
legislation in Nevada.
…a
church can engage in limited lobbying
activities. Such activities
may include signature-gathering drives
within church facilities.
Moreover, should your church face a
legal challenge for engaging in the acts
described above, the Pacific Justice
Institute will represent you without
charge.”
Ask
the members of your church to sign the
petition and help us pass stable,
predictable and transparent property
taxes. Keep families and seniors in your
church from being taxed out of their
homes.
