After
9-11 I was shocked into realizing that I had to do more
to participate in what was going on in our country. Two
things shocked me, 1. the threat of terrorism on our freedoms,
2. The more immediate threat of the Leftists who all came
out of the woodwork in opposition to those fighting for
freedom.
I decided I need
to participate in politics a little more than just voting.
I knew a little about what I could do from what I did in
1992 when some friends showed me how to get more involved.
So I went to the Republican precinct meeting and spent about
2 hours of my time. It wasn’t hard and I elected myself
chairman of my precinct because I was the only one there
to vote. I selected myself as a delegate to the county convention.
I then applied to be on the county platform committee and
was accepted. Being on the committee was a little bit more
work (two evenings a week for 3 weeks) but it was a lot
of fun. I got to meet some really nice people. I then went
to the county convention, which took up a whole day on a
Saturday. I had so much fun that I decided to go to the
state convention and I applied for that and was picked.
Doing all of that was good because I found out a lot about
how politics works. It was there that I found out about
the conspiracy to remove the true conservatives by certain
liberal Republicans. I felt betrayed, first by the Republican
party that is supposed to stand for the principles of conservatism
and then by those elected officials who would try such dirty
tricks behind the back of the people.
Before that time
at the precinct meeting I had met a candidate named Greg
Brower who was running for Assembly in my district. I thought
he was a nice guy so I had him put a sign up in my yard.
That is one of the problems in politics. All we see are
nice guys and gals running for office. We don’t really know
the principles that guide them because that takes some digging
to find out and all they tell us is that they have a nice
family and belong to the Kiwanis, etc. So we elect them
and they get into office and they stab us in the back because
they are motivated by selfish ambition and can easily be
bought off by special interests.
Then I found
out someone else was running in my district against Greg
in the primary. Her name was Sharron Angle. I had heard
that she was a good conservative and had met her at the
county convention. Greg wasn’t at the county convention
so I began to be suspicious of him. So I called Sharron
and asked her where she stood in the issues (something I
had not done with Greg, or if I had, he just gave me one
of those politician’s answers that evades the question).
I didn’t realize that I shocked her with my brazen and direct
questions, but she honestly answered me. She had no idea
who I was or what my beliefs were, so she took a great risk
of making an enemy, but she was totally honest. That so
impressed me, that when she finished speaking I asked what
I could to help her in her campaign.
Helping Sharron
was easy and it only took a little bit of my time. I just
did the little bit that I had time for. If most good people
did that, then we wouldn’t have the problem we have now
with all these scoundrels being in office. She ended up
winning by only about 140 votes. Did my participation make
the difference? That is the question that went through my
mind. Well, no, I don’t presume to take the credit for her
win when she was the one that spent about every day for
11 months walking her neighborhoods and meeting people and
all of the other fine people that helped her out. But you
have to ask yourself that question. If you help a good candidate,
will it make the small difference to help them win? That
brings up the opposite question, that if you don’t help
them, will that contribute to their losing?
Sharron’s win
brought me a lot of satisfaction, but what was to come was
even greater. She turned out to be the Republican minority
whip in the Assembly and she helped keep the Republican
minority of 15 holding fast blocking the tax increase with
her principled and absolute commitment to no tax increases
unless thoroughly justified. Just about all the rest of
them were willing to compromise with the Democrats with
a 300 million to 500 million tax increase. Finally, John
Marvel caved in to the pressure and switched sides and there
was an 836 million dollar tax increase. I still feel we
had a great victory because we stopped the gross receipts
tax, which was the opposition’s primary objective and would
have severely damaged Nevada.
How would you
feel if you just prevented a robbery and saved your neighbor
from being ripped off for $400 cash in his kitchen drawer?
Now multiply that by every person in the state. People have
a defeatist attitude when it comes to politics. They feel
they can’t do anything to change things. Well that is because
all they do is vote, if they even do that. The key is you
have to do more than vote. You have to contribute. If you
don’t have money then just a little bit of your time is
all that is needed. How much time do we waste watching TV?
Just take a little bit of that time and you will be able
to make a huge difference. You will be able to save yourself
loads of money and change the way your children and grandchildren
are educated. You will be able to accomplish great things.
Are you tired of seeing young people in our society ending
up on the Jerry Springer list of average Americans?
People don’t
realize how much power they have. The power to elect our
representatives and government officials is tremendous.
The problem is we just vote for the ones that the establishment
offers to us. We need to seek out and find good honest people
of integrity to represent us and get rid of the scoundrels.
We shouldn’t have the problems we do in our state and country,
because it is “We the People” that choose our representatives
that make the laws that govern our land.
Those elected
officials that betray the trust of the people need to be
removed. That includes all those who voted for this tax
increase, which includes all the judges on the Nevada Supreme
Court who voted to overturn the will of the people by negating
the Gibbons tax initiative that requires a 2/3 vote of both
house of the legislature to increase taxes.
We have two objectives.
The first is to protect our constitutional rights as expressed
in the United States constitution. In order to do that,
we have to fight to protect the constitution from the continual
assaults upon it. Doing that will protect our freedoms,
but if we fail we will lose them all. Our state constitution
was just assaulted by a bunch of liberal judges. We have
enlisted the help of attorney John Eastman. He is the best
in the country. We need the best because the cost of losing
is too great. Hiring him will cost some money. You have
to realize that to get things done you need money. We need
help from people who share our views, otherwise we won’t
be able to do anything and the liberals will walk all over
us.
Sharron put herself
on the hook by committing to him to pay the costs of litigating
to protect the people of our state. Now it is time for all
of us to join hands in helping her keep that commitment.
I am constantly amazed by the integrity and self-sacrifice
of this woman. Here is a person who is a true public servant.
She is basically a total volunteer. How many of you would
work full time and go into debt around $25,000 to get a
job that only pays $7000 and then tell some attorney you
would pay the costs of litigating to protect a bunch of
people you never met when the costs could reach $160,000?
That is why we
formed We The People Nevada. We can’t let true patriots
and public servants fight our battles alone. So the question
is how will we do that? Our plan is to get average Joe and
Jane citizens to contribute just a little bit of their time
and a little bit of their money. If we can set that up then
we will truly be a political action committee that represents
the people of Nevada. In order to do that, we need your
participation. Without it we are just four people sitting
on a board.
First we need
to collect money to fund the fight to protect our state
constitution. We won’t be able to do much there except help
pay the costs. If we don’t, the cost we will pay will be
a gross receipts tax next legislative session in 2005. The
gross receipts tax will cost all Nevadans a huge amount
of money. It will also establish a IRS like bureaucracy
that will reign with terror over every businessman in the
State.
Second we will
be seeking out good candidates for office to replace the
traitors. Good candidates have to be hunted down and persuaded
to run for office. They are honest people and that is why
they don’t get involved in politics. They usually have a
business or a job plus their family that takes up most of
their time. There is not much of a chance for good person
to win because he will be out on a limb by himself and have
to foot the whole bill for his campaign. If we can offer
them a lot of help and little bit of money they may want
to run for office just as an act of service to their fellow
Nevadans. It would be nice if at the next election we can
obtain a majority of true conservatives in both houses of
the State Legislature and replace the judges that are coming
up for election who voted against us.
All we ask for
is $15 plus we want your name and e-mail address and your
voting precinct number or physical address so we can set
up a data base to communicate with our members. If you don’t
have the $15, then just send us your name. We want you on
our list. We will be using e-mail because it is very cheap
and efficient. We would also like all our members to give
us the names and e-mail addresses of people they know who
may want to join up. You can also tell your employer about
out We The People Nevada. He/she may be interested in helping
us, too.
We will be sending
out information on the candidates. We will tell the truth
that the media hides from the people. We will also show
you how you can make a difference. Believe me, it is not
that hard. You will be surprised at how easy it is and you
will meet some nice people.
