The following are the principles that we will expect those running for
office to support. This list is by no means exhaustive
and is open for discussion and amendment by those
who join We The People. |
What usually goes on in
politics, they exchange of favors by persons or groups
for personal advantage and enrichment at the cost
of others (i.e. the society as a whole), is immoral
and should not take place. Those who behave in such
a way should be exposed and removed from office. |
Elected and appointed government
officials should act as servants of the people and
not as dictators. Ways should be sought to make appointed
officials accountable to the people. Public servants
who work hard for the people should be rewarded and
those who do not should be censured. |
Government should seek
to maximize the freedom of its citizens instead of
seeking more and more ways to restrict their freedom. |
Government should encourage
and remove the obstacles to religious and other groups
that increase the general moral atmosphere of the
nation. Without a general moral consciousness, freedom
cannot exist. This does not include religious groups
that seek to attack and destroy freedom. |
The principles of the United
States Constitution are under assault by left wing
judges who misinterpret it. Our goal is to protect
it by placing judges who limit themselves to interpreting
the Constitution and removing those who try to legislate
from the bench against the will of the people |
The size of government
should be limited to those necessary functions described
in the Constitution.
- Maintenance
of a strong defense.
- Maintenance
of a stable and fair currency.
- Providing
for the common welfare (prosperity)
- Execute
justice on criminals.
- And
others
Our current state of taxation
in our nation and state is immoral and should be vastly
reduced. When taxation goes beyond the minimum necessary
to maintain the government functions and services
desired by the people it produces economic slavery. |
Welfare should be changed
to Workfare for able persons capable doing any type
of work. Our government agencies have taken on too
much responsibility for taking care of the poor. That
work should be transferred to private charities. Doing
so will reduce fraud and the costs of administration. |
Government should seek
ways to allow private companies to compete to provide
services. |
Government agencies should
be structured in such a way as to produce competition
among them. There should be a system to protect whistleblowers
and seek out and find waste and corruption. |
Public sector jobs should
not exceed comparable positions in the private sector
in compensation. Public jobs should be structured
to encourage efficiency and productivity. Civil service
unions should cooperate in those objectives or be
eliminated. |
Government should act
as a referee and create a climate of fair and free
competition. To do that it must:
- Act
to prevent the formation of monopolies or near
monopolies and to break up currently established
monopolies.
- Decrease
the amount of government regulation that interferes
with the ability to do business.
- Sometimes
it will mean opening up markets to free and
fair competition.
- Sometimes
that will mean penalizing domestic and foreign
entities that engage in unfair practices with
tariffs or fines.
Current immigration laws
should be strictly enforced. A system of work permits
should be designed to provide labor for companies
that rely on cheap foreign labor that prevents those
workers from draining the medical, welfare and social
services system and returns them to their place of
origin. |
Current concepts of political
correctness limit freedom of speech and should be
eliminated. Pornography is not freedom of speech. |
The radical homosexual
movement and other groups seek to destroy the traditional
family structure which is the underpinning of society.
Their agenda should be opposed. Laws should be passed
that reinforce the traditional family and discourage
divorce. |
Reform of the current
educational system is critical. A voucher system would
apply free market principles to education reform.
Until a voucher system can be instituted the current
system should be changed by decreasing the size of
the education bureaucracy and returning the schools
to teaching the fundamentals. Access to our children
by groups with a radical social agenda should be eliminated. |
There is a strong movement
by atheists to ban religious thought form the public
square. This should be recognized as an attempt to
establish atheism as the national religion. The establishment
clause prevents the combining of the state with religious
organizations (e.g. the official state religion) but
does not prevent the exercise of free speech in conveying
religious ideas and thoughts in public institutions.
The ACLU, NEA, and other organizations are examples
of atheistic institutions trying to gain political
control and an unfair advantage over Christian groups
by incorrectly interpreting the establishment clause. |
Our country should be
a truly color blind society. To accomplish that, racial
preferences must end. The government should not collect
data by racial groups. The concept that people are
created by God as equals no matter what their skin
color or social or economic status is fundamental
to our society. As a diverse nation we must resist
all efforts by those who want to divide us and create
envy between groups as a way to obtain political power. |
We believe in the right
of the people to bear arms for personal defense and
as a hedge against despotism. |
These issues, though controversial, fall under the government’s
duty to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Laws should be passed to progressively restrict abortion
and protect the elderly and handicapped from euthanasia.
Moral education and family reinforcement are the greatest
weapons against unwanted pregnancies. Abortion should
not be used as contraception as it currently is. No
public or private agency should receive any governmental
funding for abortion services. |
